Nottingham Riviera 2012 – Beach Volleyball

Summer is here again and its beach-tastic in Nottingham with several tons of sand being imported into the city centre square for the duration. Festivities start on Saturday 21st July and run through to Tuesday 27th August. For details on all activities visit

Volleyball Competition

Beach volleyball is being showcased again with 2 events being held every week throughout the Riviera. Every Wednesday (6.30 – 9pm) is competition night with 16 teams over 4 evenings trying to qualify for the final and ultimately become the kings and queens of the Nottingham Riviera beach championship. Volleyball is a popular sport in the East Midlands and 8 of our local clubs will be showing the public and each other what they can do.

Volleyball For All

Volleyball is a fun sport for all ages and abilities and Thursday (6.30 – 8.00pm) is club night where some of our local clubs descend on the beach to train and play with the general public and hope to inspire people to try a new sporting activity. Most clubs offer a free first session to let you try it out and many that do take up the sport, even if it is at social level.

Junior Volleyball

For the first time on the riviera coaches from the East Midlands volleyball association junior development team will be offering training to all juniors aged 11 to 16. So whether they have played before or not if you know someone that would like a chance to have a taster session with experienced coaching staff let them know about our open mornings from 9 to 11am
